The pandemic has stopped a lot of things...
But not the wash!
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wash has continued to have meetings and social events. We have adapted to a virtual format in order to keep our members safe and to comply with campus safety measures.
Regular Thursday meetings, although they are now held on Zoom, still consist of the same content that a normal meeting would (debates, literary presentations, etc.). Social events, such as game nights, are hosted on the weekends.

Last semester, there were some events that were held in-person; notably, invites and inductions. These events were socially distanced and complied with all university guidelines.
Here's what current members had to say about the first online semester:
"I like that we’ve figured out how to spend time with each other in creative ways that will serve us well across school breaks in the future. Also, I think it really demonstrates how strong the Wash is as a membership that we can still get a lot out of and run a full semester completely digitally, so I think that’s been a meaningful lesson for all of us." - Mary Withycome, '23
"The Wash has allowed me to meet and befriend a tons of different people despite the pandemic. Joining the Wash really made my first semester because it allowed me to meet people and find a space I belonged in at UVA!" - Lucie Garrett, '24
"I personally found it surprisingly easy to connect with people over Zoom -- the chat function was especially helpful in that respect. I've never actually attended a Wash meeting that WASN'T online, but I feel like the most essential aspects of the Wash translated very well to this new format." - Jeffery Huang, '23
